We have known Amanda for over twelve years, from meeting her ahead of our wedding through family portrait sessions in destinations in Europe. Amanda has an eye for capturing personality and spirit, from often overlooked details to the larger scale. Amanda has gracefully mastered being able to capture a moment in a single frame as well as tell a story through a series of photos—Amanda professionally and discreetly captures the special moments of the festivities. She applies her experience, talent and creativity to providing a magnificent visual displays. And, to top it all off, Amanda is a warm, gracious, and fun person with whom to be. 

When we were ready for family portraits with our newborn daughter there was no question regarding with whom we wanted to work. We were coming from Asia into Chicago for our session with Amanda and were dedicating time in our short trip home to meet with he and determined that we would fit in a session with Amanda to capture our family in photos as thoughtfully and beautifully as she had done with our wedding day. Amanda again created an instantly comfortable atmosphere, being receptive to our thoughts but putting her unique edge and creative spin into the pictures. Over the years, we have regularly scheduled time with Amanda to capture our family in photos all over the world. She has become a friend through the years, and someone our girls now expect to see as part of our trips to the US to visit family. As the years have progressed and our daughters have grown up with Amanda knowing them, Amanda has an understanding of their personalities and, in fact, of our family’s personality. Our daughters are comfortable and playful with Amanda, enabling Amanda to capture their spirits on film in the way that reveals their personalities beautifully. The story of our wedding and our growing family is also revealed through the photos we have chosen to frame and the albums that we have developed together with Amanda. She provides suggestions and advice on how to tell a story through the album and its unique layout. She has endless patience for working with us on selecting the photos for the albums and for gallery wall, as we have a very difficult time weeding down from so many fantastic pictures. Amanda is sensitive in her advice but also willing to provide straightforward feedback if asked. Her artistic talent lies both in taking the photo initially but then helpful to display it uniquely and beautifully in an album or on a wall. As the years have progressed, so too have our orders of Amanda’s photos in our albums. She has managed to capture the spirit of our daughters so beautifully through her pictures that we simply cannot resist having the photos displayed in albums or in frames. Our gallery wall of portraits by Amanda may now rival in numbers the display of work in Amanda’s work studio! We would not hesitate to work with Amanda on capturing our family’s story through photos or telling our family’s story through organizing and displaying our pictures. Amanda has a knack for reading people and capturing moments that lends itself to thoughtfully presenting a personality, a moment, or an event.
